OUR ADVOCACY

History

The Camalig Bank Foundation, Inc. (CBF) was established on 1 September 2009. The Bank's desire to share its resources for philanthropic endeavors brought the initiative to set up a foundation.

Vision, Mission Statement, and Goals

The CBF envisions a better socio-economic condition in the Bicol Region, particularly in communities most susceptible to natural disasters. The CBF's advocacy is focused on three major areas: financial literacy, disaster preparedness and risk management, and quality education for deserving underprivileged students.

The following are the objectives of the CBF:

1. To initiate programs that promote the welfare and development of the Camalig Bank employees and clientele through financial literacy;

2. To be proactive in the creation of programs promoting disaster preparedness and risk management targeting susceptible communities during natural disasters through relevant partnerships with government and non-government agencies; and,

3. To identify and support deserving indigent students to get quality education in reputable learning institutions.

Thrusts

FINANCIAL LITERACY PROGRAM

We engage the community and stakeholders in programs geared toward promoting financial awareness and applying this skill to achieve a better quality of life.

Currently, the Foundation's financial literacy program beneficiaries include:

1. Impoverished families and communities qualified under the government's cash grant program. The delivery of this program is made possible by the partnership between BF and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (D5WD). It started in June 2013 with Catanduanes and Camarines Sur as the pilot provinces and later expanded to Albay.

2. Select agricultural and youth sectors in the Sorsogon province, which started in 2015.

3. Micro-entrepreneur clients of Camalig Bank in Albay. This program aims to teach business owners about personal finance, recordkeeping, and bookkeeping.

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND RISK MANAGEMENT

We conduct informational drives through training sessions and seminars that promote awareness, prevention, and preparedness during natural calamities and crisis situations.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

We carry out projects, furthering access and supporting quality education. The scope of the scholarship grants in this program includes payment for the tuition of deserving students, subsidy or reimbursement of qualified school expenses, and an employment program with Camalig Bank.

It started in 1983 with Bicol University and has since grown to four other partner educational institutions, including Catanduanes State University, Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, and Don Bosco Agro-Mechanical Technology Center

The Logo of Camalig Bank Foundation

The logo is shaped like "CB," the first letters of Camalig Bank. Bearing the same colors as the CB logo, BLUE represents infinite possibilities; GREEN represents basic food or basic needs and, of course, money; YELLOW represents wealth; ORANGE represents a bright future.

It also shows a top-view picture of two people working together.
