Spreading Smiles in Camalig: A Day of Giving with the Camalig Bank Foundation

The Camalig Bank Foundation chose the Tumpa, Camalig community for its annual gift-giving tradition on 16 December 2023.

Fifty families and 51 children from Tumpa were selected to benefit from this outreach. They were joined by 31 dedicated volunteers from Camalig Bank and the Camalig Bank Foundation, Inc., and AdbokaSining, a passionate local volunteer group of young artists dedicated to making a difference.

This year saw the return of the “Ukay-Ukay Rummage” game. This activity turned a makeshift market into a lively hub of happiness, where adults used play money to shop for clothes, shoes, bags, and other items generously donated by Camalig Bank employees and kind-hearted community members. The game saw participants and volunteers joyfully stepping into the roles of customers and vendors, fostering an atmosphere brimming with laughter and lively exchanges.

Recognizing the crucial role of healing and joy, particularly in light of the recent challenges posed by Mayon Volcano's eruption, the foundation collaborated with AdbokaSining to organize an art workshop for the 51 children. This workshop was more than just an activity; it served as a space for expression and creativity, providing the children with a much-needed break and a source of enjoyment.

Various games organized by the Camalig Bank volunteers further animated the event for adults and children, enriching the festive mood. Laughter and excitement became the day’s highlights, enjoyed by participants and volunteers.

The Foundation carefully prepared Noche Buena gift packages for the 50 families. Moreover, the 51 children received gifts aligned with their wishes, made possible through the generous support of Camalig Bank employees, AdbokaSining volunteers, and other donors. The Jollibee Foundation also significantly contributed to the day’s achievements by donating 200 Yum burgers, ensuring that volunteers and beneficiaries enjoyed delicious snacks.
